Beginners' course

  1. 9 chords: C A G E D Em Am Cadd9 B7. (Am and Em are easy after learning the E chord. Cadd9 is easy after learning the G chord. So, you only need focus on 6 chords: C A G E D B7)
  2. Several strumming patterns.
  3. Combining chords with strumming patterns to play songs. Scroll down for a BIG list of songs you can play with just 9  chords.
  4. Playing with a metronome. (Difficult at first, then easy. Very beneficial.)
  5. Some dynamics (variations in volume level), so that your strumming sounds rhythmical and groovy.
  6. Tuning up using an electronic tuner.
  7. Capo usage.
  8. Reading chord diagrams and simple guitar notation (TAB)
  9. Finding and naming notes on the guitar fretboard (useful for communication with other musicians)
  10. A couple of finger-picking patterns
