Lesson philosophy
In the lessons, students focus on learning the guitar/ukulele/bass parts to songs. Even if you are a complete beginner, I will help you to play songs. These are simple songs for a start, then we can gradually move to more complex songs. You'll learn new techniques, skills and theory as we go along, when they are needed to play the song we are currently working on.
I will always try to introduce new songs with care, so that they are a little challenging for you, but so that you can realistically master them in a short amount of time, say within a few weeks maximum. It's a step-by-step approach. We probably won't try to play the complete solo from Guns and Roses' 'Sweet Child O' Mine' at the third lesson, even if you are impatient to improve!
I aim to reduce the workload and stress-load of learning an instrument. We can focus on the essentials to get your playing to a good level quickly. I know some tricks and short-cuts for learning the acoustic, electric, the bass and the uke, or any instrument (or any motor skill, music- or non-music-related for that matter.) Reducing your workload when learning an instrument leaves you free to enjoy your practice and music-making more.
Some of you will just want to play for your own pleasure, relaxation or meditation at home. For those of you who would like to perform live on-stage or record your music, I will help you to do this, either through a jam session or recording session workshop or a student band, such as The Manneken Pistols or the KBH Boogie Band.
